That Dumb Screwdriver
The small town of Brooks is a rural area somewhere off of the coast of Lake Bartyburg. Lake Bartyburg is indeed a lake, but somewhere along the line people decided that Lake Bartyburg is also the masses of green land surrounding Lake Bartyburg. Brooks is a new town. It's mostly filled with elderly people.

Deer is a kid from Sealand. His outfit matches the stereotypical attire of a regular English boy. He fled to Brooks after France had gotten a taste of blitzkrieg from Hitler. Of course, that was a long time ago, but there's another Hitler doing another blitzkrieg to another France somewhere in the world.

The town of Brooks has a population of five, including Deer. These five often help each other to help increase prosperity in Brooks.

Old Man Gones is one of these guys. Due to that fact that Brooks is a small and new town, nobody has tools and everything is done by hand.

Right now, Old Man Gones is trying to expand Flecker's home by taking down Flecker's wooden wall. He's using his fingers to remove the nails from the wall. What an effort.
Of course, there's always that guy who wants to get rid of people so he can build his empire by killing his neighbors and stealing the lands. That guy happens to be Roberto Frances, and he lives next to Flecker. They're both pretty old. But unlike Old Man Gones and Flecker, Roberto is handsomely old. He looks good as an old man. Honestly, that sounds like an insult, but it happened to be true.

Roberto has a diabolical plan to take the land of Old Man Gones, Flecker, and Deer, even though Flecker is a dog. A smart dog at that, but still a dog that owns land.

" 'Ey, Deer!" Roberto waves him over to his side of the town.

Deer obediently walks up. "What is it, Mr. Frances?" he inquires.

"You see Old Man Gones workin' his fingers off over there, by ol' Flecker's home?"

"I do, sir."

"I think it'd be easier on him if you got him a screwdriver. I hear there's this green screwdriver somewhere off in the forest.

"Now, I can't go get it because these old bones of mine aren't fit to fly in those dangerous areas, but a young lad like you might think it a great exercise!"

"What a good idea, Mister Frances! You're not so creepy a guy after all!"

And so, Deer marches off to the forest in search of a screwdriver. Deer may have been a little (a lot) foolish to go run off into the woods like that without any equipment whatsoever except his trusty flashlight, but the opportunity to help others is one of those virtuous things that little boys like Deer should always do. A little help goes a long way, right?

Half an hour later, the screwdriver is still not found. The wilderness is a frightening place for a little lad, but it can't be all that difficult. Or so Deer thought.

The wind pushes past the bullions of leaves in the skies and on the ground.

It wasn't too long until the first animal of the wild is encountered.

"Ahh... The mysterious rat of the jungle," observes Deer.

The porcupine marches across the path of dust, rocks, and leaves in front of Deer.

"Now that I think about it, I am kind of hungry." Deer notes, "A jungle rat can't be all that hard to take out!"

Wielding trusty flashlight, Deer lunges at the porcupine.

Unfortunately, because this particular porcupine's kung-fu is stronger than Deer's effortless effort to murder, Deer is thrown off into a distant tree.

"Gah!" Deer grunts as he steps back on his feet.
In frustration that his first attempt to easily catch a snack was a failure, he tosses his flashlight at the porcupine. The porcupine scurries off as the flashlight hits the dirt ground, the switch flicking the light on.

It rolls, and the beam of light points to a destination that emits a small green sparkle in the bushes.

"Wha... What is that?"

Deer picks up his flashlight, which continues aiming at the bush, and he cautiously steps towards the unknown light.

Deer peers into the bush and a delighted expression appears on his lips.

The screwdriver was found.

Deer picks up the green device, but upon closer inspection he spots something that's ... a little off.

At the end of the screwdriver where one would normally find a plus- or minus-sign, Deer found a swastika. And where a screwdriver would normally not have a shiny handle, this handle glimmered indefinitely.

Well. A screwdriver's a screwdriver. Or so Deer thought.
And so began the journey back to Brooks.

The ground trembled at his feet. Then it shook. Then it started throwing everything violently. Deer's feet lost balance and he tumbled to the shivering ground, which eventually stopped vibrating. A shadow slowly loomed over Deer...

Deer did not look. He ran. Ran like a wildfire from southern Arizona, ran like a freakin' madman, man! He may not have spied the beast, but the low warning growl and monstrous shadow were enough to spike his adrenaline to his flying feet.

However, like most dangerous, wild animals, this particular beast easily caught up with Deer. Paws smashing the ground; the earth under Deer broke up and tripped him.

He lay defenseless and looked up at his foe.

A large yellow bear growled at him. It donned an emerald armour and helmet lined with golden spikes. It bore the design of multiple swastikas on both armor and fur. Then it opened the hideous maw that is its mouth.

Black gums hold onto ferocious yellow daggers. Fierce tawny spikes leak crimson blood and dam up the disgusting red tongue.

The bloody maw loomed closer to Deer. He tried to scramble away, but suddenly the force of a heavy paw struck down his arm. Deer looked in fear at the heavyset eyes that showed a clear intent to torture.

But it did not torture.

The teeth latched onto the screwdriver in Deer's hand and yanked it free, leaving Deer unscathed.

Then it picked up Deer by the head and tossed him into a large crater.

The walls of the crater were hard enough for Deer to be hit by them and black out.

And black out Deer did.

That Dumb Screwdriver -- Comment?
Well, how about it? This is how Deer ends up in a hole and picks up at the Den of Were Wolves. I'm still caffeinated, and the porcupine's kung-fu just adds to that. I wonder what I should do with the magical green screwdriver that got incorporated into the series.
And what do I do with the bear?

Come on, we're at a table, we're all friends.
Talk about it.
It should be known that this is the prequel of "The Den of Were Wolves."
